The Central Weather Bureau has issued a torrential rain warning for the western half of the island tonight, saying that people should be on the lookout for flash flood, thunderstorms and strong gusty winds. The CWB also warns that heavy rain is imminent as a cloud system moves into southern Taiwan... In fact, residents in Gaoxiong are seeing a downpour there right now. Forecasters say the unstable weather pattern will last until Thursday with high chances of rain islandwide. In some areas, rain can be heavy and accompanied by strong winds. Mercury will drop as well. The CWB says weather is expected to stabilize on Friday and skies should clear up going into the weekend.
